9/21/24 - Surviving Camp with Curly Hair 101

Welcome Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas! We are so excited to have the opportunity to present this workshop! As a former Girl Scout and Girl Scout mom one of my biggest headaches was how my child would do her hair while at camp. 

Since I️ wasn't there to do my babies hair she often came back with a bit of a matted mess. Smiling from ear to ear and by the looks of things she clearly had fun, that was however until the comb came out when it was time to undo the remnants of her former hair style.

That is why she and I created “Surviving Camp with Curly Hair” so that the next round of Girl Scouts will have the skills to manage their hair while still enjoying all the fun activities camp has to offer.

In this 2 hour session, we're dedicated to empowering girls with curly, coarse, and textured hair during their camp experience. While everyone is welcome, our focus is specifically on addressing the unique needs of those with such hair types. 

Troop members will learn essential skills like detangling, post-swimming care, style maintenance, and an easy night-time routine. Additionally, they'll acquire the confidence and skills to manage their hair independently through learning 3-4 different styles that can be done easily and quickly. We'll also stress the importance of deep conditioning for maintaining healthy hair.
